RE: Genturi for aqua/hydro hot

Did you learn how to put pictures on yet? If not bkd148, maybe you can send them to me directly. With the location of the Hydro-hot exhaust coming out in the middle of our coach, we gas the neighbors almost every time. My wife wants me to build an exhaust system but I know many have adpted the Gen-turi system to work. I'd like to know about and see what any of you have made as an adaptor. Thanks in advance.

RE: Things i noticed on trip last week............

If your saying the road construction, the several years of trucks with tire chains in the winter eating up the road, then I agree. Your probably missing the beauty of the Sierra Nevada's, Donner Lake and Truckee. Not far away, Lake Tahoe. If it is the summer, the great weather with temps not higher than 75... Did you stop at Rainbow Lodge. A great place to stop on the west slope to have a bit of lunch or just enjoy the river rushing by. Did you notice the river? Oh yea, there's a beautiful river that follows I-80 down from Donner Pass.

RE: RV Sales?

So........where do all of you negotiators think the prices should be? Cost, below costs? Should the dealer make a couple bucks? How about the salesman? I understand that the product is depreciating as it sits there, the flooring costs continue. But just when does the dealer just close the door, give the inventory to the bank and quit? What would move a dealer to pay you even wholesale book for your rig, then sell the new rig at or below costs? The dealer is better off to keep the new product which he can give back to the bank as opposed to having whatever money he may have invested in your used rig. Oh yea, he can get flooring on your trade in but at a higher interest rate than the new rig. So what's his motivation? Get your beat up thing and see a new fresh rig burning gas? (that's what we use to say in the car business. It isn't a deal until the tail lights cross the curb...or...It's not a deal until it's burning gas.) I know you are all smarting than this. Many of you have been in business. You know what it takes to run a business, how to make a deal. And if the RV dealer is like the car dealer, there is little or no money to be made in the front end (that's the show room and the selling of the vehicle.) The flooring or holding costs, the salesman, managers, accounting and more. You use to be able to make a few dollars in the F&I department (finance and insurance) (in fact make more money there than you do on the vehicle generally speaking) The money is in the service department and parts department. No, I am not in the car business anymore.....done, finished, and gone... While I agree with you that the dealerships need to make a dollar and can only go so low, What about the manufacture? Car manufactures give rebates and other deals all the time to bring in buyers, Yet i am not seeing anything from RV manufactures. There has to be some room in these prices to help the industry. Kevin Your right Kevin... American auto manufactures did (I assume still do) have 'Hold Back money'. That given to the dealer if they sell a certain number of vehicles or sell the right ones or sell them as soon as they arrive (paying for them right away). There is money for detailing them on arrival, money for advertising. All kinds of things. No one ever believed the dealer was selling it for $1.00 over invoice and showing you the invoice!! It was the true and correct invoice, the consumer just did not know all the codes showing the rebates to the dealer. They were right there on the sheet.

RE: I still have math problems??

Fuzzy math...... head game, justification. Ben Franklin....... It's all the same. Do you like the RV travel? Do you like to meet people along your route? Sleep and pe in your own bathroom? Eat meals at home? Then we should forget about the costs of holding, travel depreciation, repairs etc etc. But if we like the TSA, tight seating on the airplane, delays, hotels, eating out, grumpy people doing the same thing, rental cars, then we should sell the RV (even at a loss) and travel that way. Rving is just a life style choice. One that we very much enjoy. We could have a second home somewhere but we would always be committed to going there even though we love the area. To us, we have a second home at the beach, near favorite cities (SF) and so many others from little bergs on up. We like stopping in Walmart or some RV park we've never heard of and many not ever go to again.....Its and adventure, its memories for a life time. Yellowstone was one of those places you dream of visiting. We did.. We loved it.. Even acted like hotel guest and had a wonderful dinner at the Yellowstone hotel on Lake Yellowstone. A wonderful experience........then only a beautiful 15 minute drive back to our home and all the things I mentioned above....bed, bathroom, TV. Did I mention our own bar? Yep, got one of those too..

12 ways to find cheaper gas

This is interesting Gasbuddy.com Why am I paying $4.89 gal for diesel in Lake Tahoe? And Cheyenne, WY is paying $3.94. Do they have a new refinery that I didn't know about?

RE: Economy,,,,,,,Do you really feel the "sky falling"

Isn't this country wonderful???? What other country can we live in and say how we feel, do good and enjoy the fruits of life including hard work, risk, and return. Where else can you burn the American flag? (which I personally think you should be thrown in jail and the key lost forever, for doing) We have all of this because of the likes of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and so many other we don't even have a clue of their gift or their names, who risk it all, along with those who have given the ultimate to protect and advance this very crazy place we call home. I am proud as hell to be an American.

RE: Reno, NV Airport Pickup with RV

You could try to get the timing pretty close to on the button, then just enter the airport grounds, and keep circling. It is one big loop. Kind of like a race track. You could very easily just go around again, if she is not out on the curb yet. Keep to your left as you enter the airport (closest to the parking garage. As you approach the foot bridge, pull to the center island, drop someone off to find her and then you (or whoever is driving) just keep moving slowly. Around and around the parking structure. It will be fun.. Reno is a relatively small airport so not to fear. It is not like Oakland or SF or a big deal at all. I'd do it personally without a second thought..

RE: Economy,,,,,,,Do you really feel the "sky falling"

Media driven to a large degree. The price of fuel, food and the real estate problems are not helping. But, for a long time there were only 3 networks...period. The it began to grow and now, I have no idea how many news broadcast network channels there are. One has the nationals, then the regional big cities, then the small market stations, cable, the Internet, etc. It has become who can be the fastest (not the most accurate....the fastest) Who can grab the sensationalism. Then turn that around by showing market share...............which leads to big advertising contracts. That's all they are interested in is ad contracts, market share and bottom line profit which goes back to the investors..............Hey... That's you, right!!! You created this... You and your 401's and stock portfolio's. Yea, just like government...... It's your fault..

RE: Would you consider buying a new Class A today?

Good question. We have a DP Beaver too. I figure now is not the time to sell, let alone buy. It's as much the question of why is diesel $4.50 in the west and still going up!!! And up to where??? We don't full time. Got out last year for 6 weeks total.. This year, we've been out twice for 8 days total. We said when we bought, (we are willing to pay as much as $4.00 gal. Then it will start to make the trips shorter.) That was when diesel was $2.80 gal !!!! Crazy, just crazy...

RE: 11 day trip LA to Oregon and back

Lewis & Clark Fort Clasop Fort Stevens Here are two very cool places to visit where the Columbia River and Pacific ocean meet. It was the final stop for Lewis & Clark expedition. Lots of other cool stuff to see and visit in that area. Cannon Beach just south for example, then a bit further is Tillamook (where they make cheese) and the Tillamook Air Museum (I think the Spruce Goose is there now.) Drive the Oregon Coast from either Columbia down or the other way around. We've done it several times and Oregon is well worth the trip along the ocean. After you cross from Oregon to California you go through the Redwoods along 101. You can go up the I-5 for speed and then in Portland Oregon go over to the coast and come down 101 to just north of San Francisco, cut over on the 37 to the 80 then quickly to the 780/680, along the east bay to the 580, go east to the I-5 and home. :C:)
